Shop 'till You Drop

There are several shops in Edinburgh that cater for goth and rock tastes, most if not all of these are in the very centre of town not ten minutes walk away from each other. (Handy if you’re wearing heels). Edinburgh is quite a small city, and sometimes it seems that we don’t have as many shops as London or Glasgow.

Good clothes can be found in a variety of places, and everybody likes to wear things that are a little different. Having said that, these are the places we recommend you at least look at.

Ground Control
=============

Situated on Cockburn (‘Co-burn’) Street, this shop probably is the biggest commercial supplier of goth, rock and industrial clothing around. It even has its own piercing studio. Everything from leg cuffs to PVC trousers and NIN T-shirts can be found in this shop. Its always worth a look inside if you are passing, but only if you feel like spending a lot of money as a lot of their stuff is expensive.

It also has a good section of make up (a bit biased towards glitter) and hair dyes.

Whiplash Trash
=============

A shop that mothers don’t let their children walk past lest they grow up like those scary people who wear black** all the time. This consists of a mix of pipes(!?) and leather clothes with rubber, PVC, leather bondage fetish stuff. Lives out it’s perverted life in pure decadence on Cockburn St, up the hill form Ground Control.

Armstrongs
=========

This doesn’t really count as a Goth shop, as such. There are several branches of Armstrongs around Edinburgh, it’s a very successful second hand shop that can now afford to charge slightly higher prices for things since the opening of its branch on the Grassmarket, (the original being situated further along the same street in the Cowgate).

There are some real bargains to be found here, with everything from cheap leather to slinky PVC. Its gotta be worth looking through their stuff.

Fool Clothing
=========

Fool clothing can be found on South Clerk Street and is home to many things including friendly and helpful shop assistants. Fool sells clothing, jewellery, candle- holders, incense and all those other nick nacks you always wanted to own. Possibly leaning a little to the Aztec and Indian side of design they are a must for all who like this kind of thing. Well worth a visit!

Mail Order
=========
